By now most responsible adults know that alcohol and driving don't mix. And undoubtedly, most people would frown upon someone who knocks back a cocktail just before heading out on the road...and hopefully we'd prevent that from happening.

But how many folks take any number of medications without giving a thought to the possibility that those pills might also impair their driving?

We are a heavily medicated society. According to U.S. News and World Report, 61 percent of adults in the U.S. use at least one drug daily to treat a chronic health problem. Many take two or more prescription medications and sometimes we add over-the-counter medications to the mix.

Otherwise, stay awake when driving or take a nap at highway rest stops or off the road when necessary. Good information to remember!

Taxis aren't an option in rural areas. That being said, I'm all for public transportation and the expansion thereof into the rural areas. Just ain't happening b/c it's not making money (the US mentality is still "I have the right to drive a car.").

You are the one who made the choice to drive under any influences . Suggestion : Make the right choice , dont take any chances that could hurt someone no matter what . There is alternative methods of transportation IE: TAXIS

Happened to me once. I could barely see. I had to pull over and wait for about 30 minutes.

Those involved in accidents while DUI need to face stiff penalties. Fatal accidents caused by a driver that is under the influence should be charged with murder.

Also, the texting drivers have lot more serious accidents that medicated drivers that may just drift off of the side of the road. A note of interest. If you dose off while driving, the vehicle will automatically drift to the right side of the road. This is because of a 3% plane in the road so rain water will run off.
