If I’m buying something edible at BP, Sunoco, or Circle K, I must confess that it’s usually Slim Jims originals. If my son is with me he might ask for some gum or maybe a Three Musketeers bar. But that’s usually the extent of it. The only exception might be when I head to the nearest BP which also has Dunkin Donuts. (Kids can be pretty persuasive when they want to be.)

So it is especially intriguing to share with you what’s going on at ‘The Grille’ inside the Dodge City BP in Shallotte, NC.

Customers say the food quality is unbelievable. And they’re not just talking about subs and burgers, hot dogs and pizza (they have all that). How about smoked shrimp bisque or she crab soup… shrimp and crab quesadillas...

I remeber Wyatt Earp Gasoline in Dodge City, Kansas back in the 1970's. My car ran so poorly on that tank of fuel, I suspected it was bio cow urine in nature!

Gourmet and Gas station don't go together. Anyone who says its gourment you know their standards aren't the highest.

I have never been to a gas station that serves 'Gourmet Gas Station Food.' I have only been to the typical gas stations with the prepackaged food, drink and that coffee dispenser. And, I will never taste the food at ‘The Grille’ inside the Dodge City BP in Shallotte, NC. It’s a left coast, right coast thing – too dang far apart.

Hope they don't use motor oil in the deep fryer.

Why can't gourmet meals be served at a gas station? This isn't a new concept (maybe in the US), Italy has been doing this forever with the Autogrill. While traveling I would prefer to choose a bowl of seafood risotto than a hot dog that has been rotating under a heat lamp for 12 hours. Thanks for the info; maybe other chefs will become Gas Station Gourmets!

To paraphrase a line from a western film:

"You ain't Gourmet, and Shallotte, NC ain't Dodge City"

Like Wow! I would actually start going to BP, once again, if they would do that up here in Wisconsin!
