The Energy Information Administration released its weekly report on the condition of petroleum inventories in the United States today.

Here are some highlights:

CRUDE INVENTORIES:
Crude oil inventories increased by 1.3 million barrels to a total of 336.1 million barrels. At 336.1 million barrels, inventories are 19.8 million barrels below last year (-5.6%) and are in the upper limit of the average range.

GASOLINE INVENTORIES:
Gasoline inventories increased by 5.1 million barrels to 215.0 million barrels. At 215.0 million barrels, inventories are 1.0 million barrels, or 0.5% higher than last year. Here's how individual regions and their gasoline inventory fared last week: East Coast (+2.6mb); Midwest...

When our inventory drops, speculators jack up prices, but today, WTI dropped a whopping TEN CENTS in NY and gasoline futures are still around 2.60$. What is wrong with this picture, my fellow readers?

It should lower gas prices, but they will export it and we will see higher pricesd for having cut back on gas emission?

Less oil but more gasoline. Something is wrong with this throughput dynamic.

Were behind around here. It takes longer before gas drops an not as long to go back up.

Both oil and gasoline stocks are quite high. Prices should fall.

stocking up sounds good but we'd have to spend even more so we could put stablizer into that stocked up gas...then we wouldn't save much if any at all
