No since none of the gas cars are even near the fuel mileage that my current daily driver is getting except maybe a Hybrid but that is about the same mileage. My current daily driver is averaging about 51+mpg combined so why change?

I would not trade . . . actually I really cannot trade up much as far as fuel efficiency goes. I am currently getting 5L/100Km on highway and 6L/100Km in the city. If I upgraded to a Prius I could do a little better in the city but no better on the highway.

The options in North America are very few. If it was available here I would trade up to a really fuel efficient car like a Loremo, 1.5 L/100Km.

P.S. 5L/100Km = 47 mi/gal USA; 6L/100Km = 39 mi/gal USA; 1.5L/100Km = 150 mi/gal USA

"Since my current daily driver averages 51+mpg combined without being a Hybrid, I think I would wait until Diesel was around $7-8 before I would think about a switch to a more fuel efficient vehicle."

We are almost there and from what I see that's available, I will have to keep my current vehicle.

The price of gas isn't going to make me buy a new vehicle. Only when I am ready to buy will I make the decision on what type of vehicle.

Nobody that I know likes the high cost of fuel. Buying a new vehicle is quite a drastic move so I prefer to keep my current vehicle as long as it has no major problems.

I think many are at the breaking point now.
I have several friends who have bought more fuel efficient
vehicles in the last 2 weeks because of the persistent high cost of gas.
