Discussing trivial issues such as flat tires for an entire week is counter-productive.

I had AAA change the tire. Then I took the flat back to the tire dealer I bought it from. They fixed it for free.

When I got my flat tire I had run over something on the road from an accident that had happened on my way to the airport. It wasn't until I went over the speed bumps at the airport that it deflated. I had just entered the 427 out of the airport when I noticed it was flat. I wasn't about to get out and change it.

They taught us to change a tire in driver's ed, back when they had driver's ed. I've changed a tire and could do it if I had to, but I use AAA. Hey, I pay good money for them, why not use them? My wife had a flat, called me to tell me about it, said she thought the car was driving funny. She had an appointment so she left the car and I went out to take care of it. Poor tire was destroyed! Not only that, but the trunk was full of stuff -- I mean full!. The spare was under a board on the floor of the trunk so everything had to go into the back seat. It was about 100 degrees out that day. If I had to change the tire on top of that I might have killed her. Would have been a shame too, considering how long we've been married.

I checked changed/repaired but the choice I would think to be most common was not presented: I put the little spare on and took the flat to the shop to be fixed. By the way, the fix cost $10 which was just putting a plug in the hole in the tire. Took 30 sec.

The last "Flat" that I had was in my driveway.I used the "Compressor" and was able to re-fill it & then went to the closest re-pair garage. Luckilly, the bead was still intact on the "rim"

I voted "Changed/repaired the tire myself," but that's not exactly true because the correct choice wasn't given. I put my spare tire on myself, and then drove with it to a repair shop to have my tire repaired.

Out of curiosity, does everyone know what their tire pressure was set to when they got a flat. Was it set to the "recommended" or was it higher?

In my youth I could change a tire, or replace the 2 qts of oil that had burned in the past 100 miles, without even coming to a complete stop, just a slow role. :-) (I did an amazing amount of repairs and hacks [and doing without non-essential parts like the gas pedal instead of a string connected directly to the throttle, or the clutch on a motorcyce] with a crescent wrench and items found at the roadside.)
Which is still not as impressive as my great-uncle, who saved time on the NYC-Catskills trips (sometime pre-WWII I think) by picking up the end of the car and kicking and orange crate under it, instead of getting out a jack. Something about this being a regular occurence with old tires and hot roads.
But I'm middle-aged, it's a big mini-van, I have no idea what's rusted to what in the 100,000 miles the space has been sitting under there, and I pay for it, so I called AAA. (Though the month before -- first two flats in many years happened close together -- I did in fact jack up the Neon and put the temporary spare in place.) I'm not sure if another part failure a few weeks later, right next to the wheel that was changed, had anything to do with the way the guy AAA sent jacked it up.

What about the option of seeing it is rather low and driving the car to a repair station before the tire becomes unusable and must be changed.

I ended up having my Truck towed to the Tire store, the tire was shredded and it was freezing cold out and easier just to go directly to the store versus trying to get the spare out from under the truck.

My last flat never actualy went flat. I ran over a large piece of wire (twice the size of a coat hanger) broke it off and then drove to the tire shop.

Changed tire myself,it's lot quicker than calling AAA for assistance. My experience with tire/repair shops had not been gratifying. They all want to sell you a new tire, even if it is possible and safe to do it. They give all kind of excuses why they can't repair it. I did find one guy who patched four of my tires at a very reasonable price.

I haven't had a flat tire recently but if I did, I would either call a road service to help or inflate the tire & drive to the nearest service station to have it repaired.

There was a time not so many years ago when an individual could easily jack up the vehicle, remove the flatten tire, and replace it with the spare tire. Nowadays, changing a tire has become considerably more complicated. The useless frame jack requires one to slide under the vehicle and attach the scissor style jack to a fitting. Additionally, the crow bars have become shorter that only increases the difficulty of changing a tire.
I'd like to see a system designed similar to the manner that race cars have to jack up a car, four automatically deployed hydraulic jacks. This would certainly make changing a flat tire less complicated and safer.
